PARABNORMAL NEWS — Skywatchers, temper your expectations for the year’s most popular meteor shower.
The Perseids are peaking on the night of August 12th into the 13th. But a nearly full moon, the Sturgeon Moon, will spoil much of the show.
Normally, we’d expect to see 50 to 75 shooting stars an hour. But thanks to bright moonlight, only the brightest shooting stars will be visible, significantly reducing the numbers by about 75%.
But not all is lost. You can now look forward to mid-December when the Geminids put on a much better show.
