PARABNORMAL NEWS — UFO reports went up during the COVID-19 pandemic and now there’s a scientific study of the trend.
Documented sightings in 2020 increased by about 600 reports from pre-pandemic based on data from the National UFO Reporting Center and the Mutual UFO Network.
Researchers from the University of Vermont and the Center for UFO Studies conducted the investigation, the results of which are published in the Journal of Scientific Exploration.
The authors hypothesize that the lockdowns and social distancing measures may have led to an increase in UFO sightings with folks staying at home and having more time to observe their surroundings.
Stan Gordon says he noticed the increase to his UFO & Bigfoot/Cryptid Sightings Hotline.
“All through the pandemic, there were reports coming in pretty much every month. Interestingly, we had more of a surge of low-level UFO cases being reported,” Gordon told Into The Parabnormal.
The research found that regular launches of Starlink satellites that began in late 2019 were most likely the reason why.
