PARABNORMAL NEWS — A tunnel has been discovered on the Moon, according to a new research paper.
It has long been speculated that there could be caves under the lunar surface, but that has now been confirmed for the first time.
“These caves have been theorized for over 50 years, but it is the first time ever that we have demonstrated their existence,” said Lorenzo Bruzzone, professor at the University of Trento.
A team of international scientists say the tunnel was likely left by flowing lava. They reached their findings by using data gathered in 2010 by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter.
Researchers suggest that it could pave the way for a future lunar base to shield astronauts and explorers from the extreme environment with temperatures as hot as 127 degrees Celsius on the surface and cosmic and solar radiation that’s more powerful than on Earth.
